Watch Band Link Removal...

Alright...I've got a Fossil watch and need a couple links taken out of it...

I've tried pushing on the damn pins for a looong time now...with everything from a screw to a paperclip to a nail to a push pin...no luck...I can get em to poke through a hair...but nothing more...

The watch came w/ a tag that said "Smart Link" for 'easy sizing'...but I dunno how it can be so easy...anybody have any ideas? I dont wanna take it to a jeweler

just take it to a jeweller, i got my links taken out and it cost me a whole 5 dollars canadian

meh, didnt know it was that cheap, ok...i'll probably end up doing that...

but if anybody has any tips, lemme know so i can try once more before i go

I can ask my sister when she gets home, she used to work at a jeweler, they didn't sell Fossils so I'll see if she knows how to do it.

If you send me a pic of the side of the links I might be able to tell you how to do it, i used to fix my families jewelery for them. It's usually just a lil fiddly.

Either that or just take it to the jewelers, it should only take a minute and they shouldn't charge much. If they charge you anymore than $5 (In my opinion) they're ripping you off. Just call a few places, ask how much and then take it in.

Just found a pic of the side of one...

basically get something like a paperclip, bend it straight, use it to push through the holes on the side of a link beside where the band cannects to itself (not where it connects to the watch).

Push in, unhinge it, remove one link, then use like a finger nail or anything very thin but firm (edge of a knife blade sometimes works) to slip the links back together.

You need the finger/knife blade to hold the spring (metal pin) down

i've already tried that...i've tried pushing as hard as i can on the pins, yes, with a paper clip...the things wont budge

Ask Charismas sister.

Failing that take it to the jewelers. They shouldn't charge much at all. Or take it back to where you bought it (Hopefully a jewelers or watch store) with your reciept and they should resize it for you for free.

Eh, I just bought one for my G/F it's wrapped up now, but the lady showed me how to do it. The explaining is the hard part lol. The way she showed me, is you lift the link that has fossil written on it, and the next 2 or 3 also. The fossil link stays on the band. So you are lifting the actual link, from the side of the link, but not the side of the band....if that makes any sense lol.

Otherwise, take it to a watchshop and they'll do it for 3$ or w/e.

my gf's got a fossil...hers is completely different from mine when it comes to removing the links...

Draggy, might I ask why a Fossil? Or are you not an avid watch wearer? I mean, sure they're nice watches but for the money the best quality and looking watches would be Invicta.

BTW I'll ask the sister for you once she gets home.

I just took mine to a store, and the guy basically drop a small pin into the holes on the side with a little hammer and pulled the pin holding the link together out. Mine is a few years older though, not sure if this new "system" is really a system though lol. Don't wanna bust yer new watch.
