<span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'>Final Product</span>

<div class='bbimg'><a href='http://www.maximumgamerz.com/forums/dragon/tutorials/sig/sig_finished03.jpg' target='_blank'>Image</a></div>

<span style='font-size:14pt;line-height:100%'>or</span>

<div class='bbimg'><a href='http://www.maximumgamerz.com/forums/dragon/gtacesig.jpg' target='_blank'>Image</a></div>

<span style='font-size:12pt;line-height:100%'>Making the Background</span>

Create a new document 1000 pixels by 1000 pixels. Notice the foreground and background colors (white and black, respectively)

<div class='bbimg'><a href='http://www.maximumgamerz.com/forums/dragon/tutorials/sig/sig_01.jpg' target='_blank'>Image</a></div>

Select the Gradient Tool, and use the following settings

<div class='bbimg'><a href='http://www.maximumgamerz.com/forums/dragon/tutorials/sig/sig_02.jpg' target='_blank'>Image</a></div>

Now, simply click and drag many times throughout your image until you have something that looks good (the more times you click/apply the gradient, the more waves your sig will have in the background)

<div class='bbimg'><a href='http://www.maximumgamerz.com/forums/dragon/tutorials/sig/sig_03.jpg' target='_blank'>Image</a></div>

Go to Filter > Distort > Wave...You may use whatever settings you want. Here are the settings I used (you may wish to click Randomize until you find a preview that you like)

<div class='bbimg'><a href='http://www.maximumgamerz.com/forums/dragon/tutorials/sig/sig_04.jpg' target='_blank'>Image</a></div>

Apply this wave effect as many times as you want, until you achieve a good look...2-3 times should be sufficient, depending on your Wave settings.

Select the Rectangular Marquee Tool and click and drag over a portion of the image that you would like to have as your signature background.

<div class='bbimg'><a href='http://www.maximumgamerz.com/forums/dragon/tutorials/sig/sig_05.jpg' target='_blank'>Image</a></div>

Remember, you need to make a selection that is proportional to the signature size you want...Here is my selection (you wont have the yellow outline when you select)

<div class='bbimg'><a href='http://www.maximumgamerz.com/forums/dragon/tutorials/sig/sig_06.jpg' target='_blank'>Image</a></div>

Crop your selection by going to Image > Crop. Now, you need to resize your background to the size you want your signature to be. I'm going to use 400 x 200. To do this, go to Image > Image Size and enter the appropriate values. Remember to have Constrain Proportions unchecked

<div class='bbimg'><a href='http://www.maximumgamerz.com/forums/dragon/tutorials/sig/sig_07.jpg' target='_blank'>Image</a></div>

Press Ctrl + Alt + 0 to resize your image to its actual size. Now press Ctrl + U to bring up the Hue/Saturation box. Be sure the Colorize box is checked. This will put color to your background. Slide the bars right and left until you achieve your wanted result. Here are the settings I used.

<div class='bbimg'><a href='http://www.maximumgamerz.com/forums/dragon/tutorials/sig/sig_08.jpg' target='_blank'>Image</a></div>

<span style='font-size:12pt;line-height:100%'>Creating the Border</span>

Create a new layer by pressing Shift + Ctrl + N

Select the Polygonal Lasso Tool

<div class='bbimg'><a href='http://www.maximumgamerz.com/forums/dragon/tutorials/sig/sig_09.jpg' target='_blank'>Image</a></div>

Outline the area you would like the border to be. If you click and hold shift, you will draw a straight line. When you are done outlining, set the Feather to 2 px (Umm...dont mind that circle in the upper right, I'm sure yours will look better ;) I would recommend avoiding circles in your border)

<div class='bbimg'><a href='http://www.maximumgamerz.com/forums/dragon/tutorials/sig/sig_10.jpg' target='_blank'>Image</a></div>

Now you need to select the border, not what is inside what you just outlined. So, go to Select > Inverse. Select the Gradient Tool again. This time, make your foreground and background the colors you would like the border to be. Here is what my colors look like

<div class='bbimg'><a href='http://www.maximumgamerz.com/forums/dragon/tutorials/sig/sig_11.jpg' target='_blank'>Image</a></div>

With the Gradient Tool still selected, click and drag straight up and down to fill the border

<div class='bbimg'><a href='http://www.maximumgamerz.com/forums/dragon/tutorials/sig/sig_12.jpg' target='_blank'>Image</a></div>

Click on the circle with an "f" on it at the bottom of the layers pallette and select Bevel and Emboss

<div class='bbimg'><a href='http://www.maximumgamerz.com/forums/dragon/tutorials/sig/sig_13.jpg' target='_blank'>Image</a></div>

<div class='bbimg'><a href='http://www.maximumgamerz.com/forums/dragon/tutorials/sig/sig_14.jpg' target='_blank'>Image</a></div>

Select Pillow Emboss from Style, the first drop-down menu. Play with the settings until you achieve something you like.

<span style='font-size:12pt;line-height:100%'>Creating the Text Background</span>

Create a new layer by pressing Shift + Ctrl + N

Change the foreground to a color similar to your border color. This color will be the background strip behind your text. After you have picked a color out, select the Rectangular Marquee Tool and make a box all the way across your image to represent the background of your text. (Again, you won't have the yellow border pictured below)

<div class='bbimg'><a href='http://www.maximumgamerz.com/forums/dragon/tutorials/sig/sig_15.jpg' target='_blank'>Image</a></div>

Go to Layer > Arrange > Send to Back

<div class='bbimg'><a href='http://www.maximumgamerz.com/forums/dragon/tutorials/sig/sig_16.jpg' target='_blank'>Image</a></div>

Right click on your dashed box and click Fill.

<div class='bbimg'><a href='http://www.maximumgamerz.com/forums/dragon/tutorials/sig/sig_17.jpg' target='_blank'>Image</a></div>

Click ok when the dialog box comes up.

Now, change your foreground to Black. Right click on the now filled box, and click Stroke this time. Use these settings

<div class='bbimg'><a href='http://www.maximumgamerz.com/forums/dragon/tutorials/sig/sig_18.jpg' target='_blank'>Image</a></div>

Change the Opacity of this layer by sliding the bar on the right side of the screen. I used 75%

<div class='bbimg'><a href='http://www.maximumgamerz.com/forums/dragon/tutorials/sig/sig_19.jpg' target='_blank'>Image</a></div>

<span style='font-size:12pt;line-height:100%'>Creating Text</span>

Using the Text tool, drag a box anywhere along your new background strip and type your name. Choose the appropriate Font style and Size. Right click on the text and click Blending Options.

<div class='bbimg'><a href='http://www.maximumgamerz.com/forums/dragon/tutorials/sig/sig_20.jpg' target='_blank'>Image</a></div>

I used Drop Shadow, Outer Glow, and Bevel and Emboss. Be sure you play with the individual settings for each effect, as the default settings won't look best.

<span style='font-size:12pt;line-height:100%'>Final Touch</span>

Layer > Flatten Image

With the Rectangular Marquee Tool selected, go to Select > All. Right click on your image, and go to Stroke. Use these settings

<div class='bbimg'><a href='http://www.maximumgamerz.com/forums/dragon/tutorials/sig/sig_21.jpg' target='_blank'>Image</a></div>

YOU'RE DONE!

Here's the final result.

<div class='bbimg'><a href='http://www.maximumgamerz.com/forums/dragon/tutorials/sig/sig_finished03.jpg' target='_blank'>Image</a></div>

Good luck with your sig-making, sorry it was SO long. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
